SWS Community Welfare Programme: Supporting Underserved Communities Across Nepal
Social Welfare Service (SWS) is committed to improving the lives of people living in rural, remote, and marginalized communities. Through our flagship Community Welfare Programme, we work to bridge the gap between communities and essential services, resources, and opportunities.
Program Focus Areas
In 2025, the programme concentrated on:
- Linking communities with government welfare schemes and services
- Organizing health awareness and education campaigns
- Providing career guidance and skill development support for youth
- Conducting community needs assessments and resource mapping
- Mobilizing volunteers for grassroots support
Reach in 2025
During the year, the Community Welfare Programme successfully expanded to 22 districts across all seven provinces of Nepal. Thousands of individuals benefited directly from our interventions through awareness sessions, coordination support, and access to institutional services.
Key Activities
- Career guidance workshops for youth in remote areas
- Awareness campaigns on government social protection schemes
- Coordination meetings with local government bodies (Palikas)
- Volunteer training and mobilization
- Community-level needs assessment and resource linkage
Impact
The programme helped many beneficiaries gain better access to government services, health information, and livelihood opportunities. Our team witnessed encouraging feedback from communities, highlighting improved awareness and stronger connections with local institutions.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
Working in remote areas presented challenges such as difficult terrain, limited infrastructure, and coordination delays. However, these experiences taught us the importance of early engagement with local governments and the power of community-led initiatives.
Way Forward
Building on the progress of 2025, SWS plans to gradually expand the Community Welfare Programme to more districts. We aim to strengthen our volunteer network, improve monitoring systems, and develop sustainable partnerships to create long-term positive change in underserved communities.
We invite individuals, organizations, and local governments to partner with us in this important mission. Together, we can make meaningful contributions toward a more inclusive and empowered Nepal.
